How to use Chemistry Help

Find what you need, then choose one useful thing to practise.

You can also use Search site in the header, or press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac).

Choose a starting point

Revising for a test

Start with the topic your teacher set. Check the specification lines you have covered, choose a lower-rated part and use the explanation or practice links beside it. Then try a fresh question without help.

A quick brush-up

Choose one skill. Read its short explanation if needed, try a few questions and check what went wrong. Ten useful minutes can be enough for a small task.

Not sure where to begin

Choose your board’s topic page or use search. In My Chemistry, rate the specification lines you have covered honestly; leave uncovered lines blank. Ratings help you choose work, and question results give separate evidence.

What each part is for

My Chemistry topics

Choose a course topic and start a short question round. Public topic revision pages also have explanations and linked practice.

Opening a topic does not establish mastery; independent/helped/retried answers are distinct.

Specification tracker

Rate covered lines honestly from 0 to 5, leave uncovered lines blank, and use Quick revision, MCQ and Chemistry Help links beside the line. Work on a covered lower-rated line then check yourself with a fresh question. A rating increase is the student's judgement, not an automatic grade.

Self-ratings are separate from quiz evidence. Reading notes or changing a number does not prove understanding.

Chemistry tools

Search by tool name/skill or choose an area. Some tools save checked results; others describe their own saving or self-marking limits.

A visit alone is not completion; teacher preview stays out of learner scores.

Saved questions

Return to questions saved for another attempt. Try without the worked answer, then use help if needed.

A later correct answer is distinct from a first independent answer.

Open bench laboratory

Choose board and AS/full course, then a sample or apparatus. Decide what you expect before revealing observations. This is a simulation, not proof of practical competence.

Opening or revealing an observation does not prove understanding.

Interactive organic reaction map

Choose the board and relevant topics, inspect reactions or plan a route. Follow with drawing/recall practice. Search explains when matching reactions are hidden by topic filters.

Looking at an explanation is not an independent mechanism answer.
