Year 12 topic · full A-level standard · AQA + OCR A
Halogens (Group 7 / 17) exam questions
Practise the halogen chemistry that still turns up in final A-level papers: displacement and redox, observations and ionic equations, halide tests, chlorine chemistry and board-specific detail.

Answer each part, then mark it. Open a clue only if you need one.
What changes between AQA and OCR A?
Both boards test boiling-point trends, halogen displacement, halide tests and chlorine disproportionation. AQA also expects electronegativity and the reactions of solid sodium halides with concentrated sulfuric acid. OCR A explicitly tests the s2p5 outer-shell pattern, colour changes in aqueous and organic solvents, and analogous disproportionation reactions. The generator keeps those boundaries separate.
