AQA 3.1.11.1 · Year 13

Conventional electrochemical cell notation

Build the representation one piece at a time: correct half-cell order, phase boundaries, salt bridge, aqueous species and inert platinum where it is actually needed.

AQA: conventional cell representation is explicit specification content. OCR A students can use this as extension practice, but it is not treated as an OCR A mastery requirement here.

Four marks-saving conventions

| marks a phase boundary.|| represents the salt bridge between half-cells.Species in the same aqueous phase are separated by a comma, not another phase boundary.Use Pt when the half-cell has no conducting redox solid.
